The stage development lies on the site of one of London’s earliest Shakespearean theatres, the Curtain. Chris designed the archaeological evaluation which located the remains of the theatre and then helped the architects design a scheme around the remains which were to be excavated and put on permanent display. Chris presented the scheme at the public consultation and to the London Borough of Hackney planning committee which approved the planning application. The development is now under construction and the Curtain Theatre has been exposed and preserved and, once the project is complete, will provide a major new visitor destination for London.
